I’m enjoying the flexibility of a virtual exhibition space at #naf2022. It’s meant that I can easily add this new image of Amakhala – taken a couple of weeks ago- to the Room of Dreams.
It fits very nicely in the centre of the wall of landscapes with my other night sky picture of Amakhala and a set of Hogsback images.
I was keen to get this shot as I knew that we would pass a striking group of bitter aloes just before dawn on the way to the Ulovane Environmental Training Centre. We’ve been getting some beautiful colours lately before dawn and after sunset – due to the afterglow caused by the aerosols released by the Tonga volcano – and I was really pleased to capture them. Unfortunately I was too late – and it was too bright – to get a decent amount of stars so I’ve made a composite by brushing in the Milky Way from a mid winter night drive shoot in Amakhala a year previously.
