Tis the Season to get Trampled …. chose family over frenzy

Here's the latest video from the Story of Stuff project 'Tis the season to get trampled'. It asks us to buy nothing and do something on Black Friday (which I gather is an American consumer occasion and media event ....).  It is only a minute long. I watched, bemused, but not surprised.  This is what the mainstream... Continue Reading →

Featherstone Kloof Hike

Today was the day scheduled for my hike over into Featherstone Kloof. The weather forecast on Saturday said that Sunday would be 30-35 Centigrade so I got up early at 5.40 and was off by 7.00.  Unfortunately the forecast was wrong and as I trod slowly home at 12.00 it was 39!  Far too hot.... That is the mix I am trying to show in these two pictures.  The mid-October sunset is taken from above Skalbanksmuseet - the Shell Bed Museum - on the eastern side of town looking west over... My Sweden

I suspect this is going to be be the first of a number of posts on this theme .... these four pictures really are My Sweden: The Falun red paint at sunset on the barn at Äsperöd; The 3 am dawn light over the fjord; The Swedish flags snapping in the cold autumn winds; And,... Continue Reading →

Stormy Sunset over Grahamstown

This last two weeks have been extremely wet in Grahamstown which has led to the main road from Port Elizabeth collapsing completely.  There are some great pictures here in Grocott's Mail. On Thursday, after 10 days of rain, we got a day of warmth and sunshine which led to the most spectacular and menacing storm... Continue Reading →
